Wolong Lake, Jiuzhaigou [Aba]

Wolong Lake is 2215 meters above sea level and 22 meters deep. There is calcium carbonate sediments in yellow color at the bottom of Wolong lake which resembles a vivid great yellow dragon. As the legend goes, once there was a black dragon living in the black river. Every year the people should worship for 99 days for water from him. The white dragon living in the white dragon river is in sympathy with the people and sent the water to Jiuzhaigou which angered the black dragon. They fought with each other but the white dragon exhausted all his power and gradually sunk into the bottom of the lake. At that time, the gods of all the mountains came and the black dragon was beaten. However the white dragon had no power to come back to his white dragon river again and transferred to a yellow dragon of the lake. People named this lake Wolong Lake in memory of him.

There are kinds of flowers and trees around Wolong lake which are reflected in the lake in different color which are really beautiful. When there is a breeze, the sleeping dragon seems creep slowly; the slightly stronger wind, the dragon seems is awakened, chasing its tail; strong wind, the dragon seems disappear because of the broken lake surface.

The pretty Wolong lake is a typical representative of the blue lake which looks like a smooth, crystal sapphire catching the attention of all visitors.
