Dongjiao Coconut Grove [Wenchang, Hainan]

It has been more than 2000 years since people live and work in the area where Wenchang City is how located. It is the hometown of many overseas Chinese, of culture and the charming scenery of coconut forest. Wenchang is rich in tropical tourist resources, boasting 20 famous scenic spots and historical sites. To mention a few, they are the marvelous Tonggu Ridge, the beautiful Dongjiao Coconut Groves, the white-sand bathing beach at Gaolong Bay, the Mangrove Forest, the Confucius Temple, the ancestral Home of Song Qingling and the ancient town at Wencheng.

The local people say: ”Wenchang produces half of the coconuts in Hainan while Dongjiao produces half of the coconuts in Wenchang.” Over 500,000 coconut trees of many different varieties grow in Dongjiao. With its thick and flourisching trees, beautiful scenery and clean water, it is a natural swimming spot, suitable for different kinds of a beach sports and maritime activities. Among other attractions and facilities are the CoconutPark, a tourist quay, and a couple of seaside holiday resorts and seafood restaurants. The shallow water along the coast produces precious aquatic products including lobsters, prawns, rockfishes and abalones. The charm of Dongjiao Coconut Grove lies in its tropical coconut culture.
