White Dragon Pearl City Relics (Bailong Zhenzhucheng Yizhi) [Beihai]

The Pearl City is also named white dragon city. The ancient Pearl City was once the famous symbol of south pearl. What are left now are the remnants of the Pearl City historical vestige. The city is in square shape. The length from north to south measures 320 meters, the southeast width is 233 meters, the perimeter is 1,107 meters, the wall height is 6 meters and the city base width is 6 meters.

The long and narrow stones formed the base. The wall was built with firebrick and the central loess clamps were built with hanging bead shell. The area occupies is more than 70,000 square meters. It is divided into the east, south and west three city gates. The watchtower may be used to look out and monitor the entire city and the sea surface.

The city was set with Pearl Picking Mansion, the bead field department, the salt department and Ninghai temple and so on. The inner and outer of the city walls were built with firebrick. There are layer upon layer of loess clamps earl oyster shell located every 10 centimeters in the centre.

The Pearl City acquires fame from these layers. The Pearl City ruins have been listed as the provincial level cultural relic preservation unit of Guangxi Province. In recent years, funds were allocated to the Pearl City ruins to construct the style of antiquity 'the pearl pavilion'.
