Golden Mountain [Chaozhou]

This ancient pine tree used to be called Ma Qiu Jade Green Pine, but as it grows on Golden mountain, hence its latter name. The thousand-year-old pine tree reaches to one hundred feet high, with strong bole and dragon-squama-like skin. It is planted in memory of Ma Fa who roused ChaoZhou people to oppugn Yuan army and protect their home from intrusion at the end of Song Dynasty. The tree, symbolizing loftiness and heroism, is right next to Ma’s tomb.
On the 40-meter high Golden mountain, there exist other scenic spots: Lichee pavilion, Pidu Apex, Wangxian Rock, Xiangshi post and so on.
