Tianzi Mountain [Zhangjiajie]

Tianzi Mountain confronts Suoxi valley in the east, connecting Zhangjiajie in the south, and neighboring Sangzhi County in the north. It is among the top four sceneries in Wulingyuan scenic zone. It has a maximum altitude of 1,262.5 meters and the total area occupied of 67 square kilometers.
It comprised of 45 kilometers of tour route around the mountains. Most of the sight spots in Tianzi Mountain scenic zone are made up of quartzite and belongs to the sandstone hoodoos geomorphic. It is the progressive sedimentary of rock formed by the ocean about 380 million years ago. Later, after complicated and endless digenetic process, it turned into the quartz sandstone with total thickness of 500 to 600 meters and all kinds of bizarre sight that we see today. Anyway, the scene of Tianzi Mountain is the “original scenery of natural beauty”, created by nature, without any trace of manual work.

There are not just beautiful landscapes, but also simplicity, peculiar folk custom and local folk food of special flavor awaiting the arrival of visitors. No wonder people appraise it as “who saw the true face of Tianzi Mountain wouldn’t want to travel to others again” and “he who doesn’t climb Tianzi Mountain is considered not having visited Wulingyuan”.
