Sorthern Lake [Chongqing]

The southern lake locates inside Banan District of Chongqing and 33 kilometers from the main city. It is an artificial lake with the original name as Nanpeng lake, the water area of which is over 130 acres while the land area as 17 acres. The water storage of southern lake is 13,300,000 cubic meters which is one of the large lakes near Chongqing city. After the development with investments, the southern lake forms a set of irrigation, water supply, farming and tourism.

The southern lake locates in the mountains with large areas of pines and cypress trees. There is a fishing village in the center of Carp Island which is made of natural material like bamboos, wood and stones etc. and in an integral whole with the lake and mountains. The temperature in the lake area usually 3℃—4℃ lower than the urban areas which is very suitable to people.

You can taste the wild vegetables which you haven’t eaten for a long time in urban areas at southern lake.

Take a bus for the direction of Jiangjia or Jielong at Nanping Bus Station and get off at Nanpeng. It takes about one hour and the ticket is 5 CNY a person.
