Muslim Temple [Lishui]

Muslim Temple, the former name is “Muslim Hall”, is located at the foot of Mianniu Mountain which is 23 kilometers to southwest of Qingtian County, Lishui area, Zhejiang Province. It belongs to county-level historical and cultural sites unit, which is one of the hundreds of famous temples in nation.

Muslim Temple was built in early of Yuan dynasty and the late of Song dynasty with pink well and black tiles, lofty and steep eaves and grand vigor. The main architecture measures against axle wire, and mountain gate, bell and drum tower, free captive animals pool, gate of the first compartment. The Palace of White Clothes Grand Councilor in the second compartment, Kwan-yin Palace in the third Palace, wing-room, Lady Palace of west wing-room in turns and which covers an area of about 10,000 square meters. On the gate of palace hung a stele written by master of calligraphy—Sha Menghai and in the temple there is Chinese character of “ Muslim Temple” written by Zhao Puchu—the chairman of Buddhism Association of China. The Grand Palace erects the statues of Sakyamuni and the eighteen disciples of Buddha, in front palace enshrined the image of Liqin that is the minister to three emperors of Tang dynasty and called “White Clothes Grand Councilor”. On the both sides of temple erect bell and drum tower, and there are a lot of huge candles, the heaviest pair is 1,200 kg and it can burn for a year therefore it’s called the unique of Jiangnan.

Features：
The weighty candles are produced by special civilian religion organize “Twenty-four Worships Union”. The 19th of February is the time of temple fair of Muslim Temple; worshippers come here carrying the weighty candles and delivered with the ceremony of float and band to hold the ceremony of burning candles.

Go round: From East Coach Station of Hangzhou to Qingtian Coach Station and then take minibus to scenic area (8 RMB).
