Dalu Island [Taizhou]

Intro：
'Forest Art Island' Dalu Island, situated on the ocean surface, 6 miles southeast of Yuhuan County, is composed of Dalu and Xiaolu Island. With an area of 1.75 square kilometers, its sea line is 5.45 kilometers long. It is said that a Liuyao Combined Deer stole green seeds for the scattering to the world, fell into the ocean because of thunder. Therefore the island got its name, and is called because it is like a combined deer perking the ocean surface.

Its main peak is 229.2 meters high; its forest coverage rate has reached 87.5% and forest stock reached over 3300 cubic meters consisting of nearly one thousand species of plants. The roads around the island are framed by the lofty and thick forest. There are lofty American redwood trees, hinoki cypresses, azaleas, Gardenia, etc. Besides, it has over ten kinds of birds, over 70 types of insects, groups of culvers and mongolian gazelles. Dalu Island is a sole island forest park of 14 national forest parks approved by the Department of Forestry in November, 1992.

Features：
Dalu Island, blending the natural scenery, sea forest, odd reef and rocks and rock carvings into a whole, is really a rare national 'divine maritime mountain'. The forest of the island, the surrounding vast sea and coastal reef rock carvings form its unique scenery. Among which, Longyou Cave, Wind and Moon of Rope Bridge, Eight Immortals Cross the Sea and so on are the eight great sights of the island. It also has petroglyphwritten by Liu Haisu, Sha Menghai and so on.

Best Travel Time：
Taizhou enjoys subtropical monsoon climate. It has moderate rainfall and pleasant temperature with annual average temperature of 16.8 C. The best time to visit Taizhou is from April to October. Tourists can not only view beautiful scenes, but also avoid the burning sun when traveling in July or August.

Traffic：
Go around: Take midibus from Yuhuan County to Gemen Yingdong Dock, and then take half an hour’s yacht there.
Drive: Up Yongtaiwen Expressway, down at Daxing exit of Wenling to Yuhuan, then to Gemen Yingdong Dock, then take a ship there (the ticket is ￥25).
