The Yellow River Delta Marshland in Dongying City of Shandong Province: A land created by the river
The Yellow River Delta in modern times includes part of the Binzhou area and almost the whole of Dongying City in Shandong Province. With a great momentum, the Yellow River carries mud and sand along its way, and charges recklessly against its banks before emptying into the Bohai Sea, leaving behind it a newly created land--the world's youngest wetland ecosystem. The mud and sand lines under the water are like blood vessels in the human body. Almost 300 kinds of birds make their homes here; a place called by officials of Wetlands International the ''international airport for birds''.
Huanghe is the mother river of Chinese nation, the cradle of Chinese culture, and the spiritual and emotional symbol of the nation.
With a total length of more than 5,000 kilometers, Huanghe is the second largest river in China, and the fifth largest river in the world. Passed 9 provinces, with more than 40 branches and more than 1000 rivulets infused, Huanghe has a drainage basin of 750,000 square kilometers.
Huanghe carries more sands than any other rivers of the world, totally 1.6 billion tons one year, among which about 10 billion tons fills up in the delta area, forming the youngest and fastest developing delta of the world. 32.4 square kilometers land and 2.21 kilometers coastline can be formed every year. The story 'Sea Turns to Farmland' comes true here.
Huanghe delta is the third biggest delta of China, which is called the most mysterious land in Chinese main land, and the only place where land can grow. There are few people in this area, so the newly filling up land is not disturbed by human's activity. Unique ecological environment, advantaged natural condition make here typical integrated youngest marsh ecosystem, state-level natural protected area, and one of the 13 key protected marshes of the world by UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme). The spirit of the tourist recourse of Huanghe is centralized here: diversiform birds, sand beach, the marsh ecosystem, the sight of Huanghe estuary, and petroleum industry sight of Shengli oil field.

With profound historical and cultural accumulation, the sceneries sunset, entering to the sea, vast forest, long dam and ten thousand hectares of reed as well as flaming red carpet created the natural scene of Huanghe estuary featuring 'wild, mysterious, novel and beautiful'. National Geographic of American praised the estuary of Huanghe as one of the most beautiful places in China.
