Exquisite Ouyuan Garden located in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province attracts many tourists in autumn. Built in the early Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), the garden has been listed as a World UNESCO Heritage in 2000. Suzhou is also one of the most prosperous cities in China, and many famous private gardens can be found in the city. Most of them keep their historical layout. Pictures taken on Oct. 24, 2006

Anonymous Review at: 2008-03-06 Source: LuopanOu Yuan is the classical garden of SuZhou. Ou Yuan is one of the UNESCO site. It is beautiful inside with all the landscaping and houses. This is the 1st UNESCO Site which I have visited and I hope to cover as many sites as possible

The housing complex is located in the middle and the Garden is on the East and West side. The East Garden has a dominant "mountain" rising from a pond .The pavilions,terraces and towers are centered upon the mountain. The West Garden consists of studies, pavilions and garden courts.

Ou in Chinese means lotus root and a couple can be also called in this way. Lotus roots is also a plant which can be hardly aparted with its threads connected, representing the love and emotion inseperable between couples.
