It stands in the center of the Nanjing, initially built in 1382 and composed of two parts, the pavilion and the platform. There are two big drums, 24 small drums and other ceremonial music instruments in the Drum Tower of Ming Dynasty, with the function of giving the correct time, greeting the Emperor and admitting the imperial decree. The tower once ruined. In Qing Dynasty, the tower and steles were rebuilt in the foundation bed of the drum tower, so the Drum Tower has an title of "the drum of Ming Dynasty and the stele of Qing Dynasty".
