Dianshanhu Lake [Shanghai]

Dianshan Lake scenic area, located in Qingpu District, in the western suburb of Shanghai, was named after the Dianshan Hill in the east of the lake. The lake has a total area of 62 sq.km, twelve times that of the West Lake in Hangzhou. It is the largest fresh water lake in Shanghai. The Dianshan Lake scenic area was developed in the '80s of the last century. Through many years of construction and expansion, it has become the largest tourist area in Shanghai.

Ancient town of Zhujiajiao: With the 9-peak North Hill at the back and by the Dianshan Lake, the 47-sq.km, thousand-year old, famous ancient town of Zhujiajiao is like a glistening pearl on the lake. The town is criss-crossed by rivers, along which run 9 long streets with over a thousand ancient dwellings of the Ming and Qing Dynasty architecture. There are 36 ancient stone bridges spanning the rivers and historical sites and scenic spots are found everywhere
