Lush grass, flowers, fountains and melodious music. These are what visitors will experience at Olympic Square, whose foundation was laid by Mr. Samaranch, president of the International Olympic Committee, in September 1998. The Olympic Rings, symbolizing the Olympic spirit, stand in the north part of the 42,000-square-meter public square. A large screen shows live football matches during football season, attracting numerous local fans. Underground is a two-level shopping arcade, replete with a Volmar chain supermarket, beauty salon, retail clothing shops and snack stands.
