The Arthur M. Museum of Art and Archaeology at Peking University opened in May ,1993.
Wholeheartly dedicated to public service, NMCH is operating for its responsibility to collect, preserve historic treasures, exhibit fine art and antiquities, and engage to advance research works related with antiquity study, archaeology, museum science
The collection in this museum comes from four sources: 1.) Peking University's holdings prior to the establishment of the Archaeology Division in 1952; 2.) the collection belonging to the former Prehistory Museum of Yanjing University; 3.)artifacts brought back from exactions carried out after the Archaeology Division was established(these are used primarily for teaching purposes); and 4.) loans and gifts generously donated by other cultural relics and archaeology institutes during the preparation period of the museum.
